Standby Generator Service

A generator sits quietly for a year and then has to work on the one night it matters. That means the battery, the oil, the weekly test cycle and the transfer switch, all checked before the storm rather than during it. These are New Jersey homes we look after on a maintenance plan, and plenty of the generators on this list were installed by somebody else. Each one names the equipment on site and the town, so what you are reading is work we actually did rather than a list of what a plan covers.

939 completed generator service projects across 142 New Jersey towns, including 165 with a review written by the customer.

Standby Generator Service in Farmingdale, NJ | Servicing Taken Over

Jean from Farmingdale, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since November of 2024. The standby generator at the house was installed and commissioned by another company in February of 2021, and the servicing was moved to us three years later. The first visit, in November of 2024, was the four-year service; the second, in October of 2025, the five-year, 800-hour one. Picking up someone else’s machine means starting with what is actually there rather than what a file says – hours on the clock, the state of the battery and plugs, whether the enclosure has been sitting

22 kW Standby Generator Installation in Holmdel, NJ | Whole-House Backup

Eric from Holmdel, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since February of 2021. The generator was commissioned that September: a Generac Guardian rated 19.5 kW on natural gas, sited outdoors beside the meter with a 200-amp service disconnect and a bisque trim kit to keep it looking deliberate rather than bolted on. The load calculation asked for 15 kW across the 3,152 square foot house, so the unit installed has real headroom above the requirement – which is what stops a generator running flat out every time it is called on. It is supported by annual maintenance,

Standby Generator Service in Manalapan, NJ | Serviced Every Spring

Douglas from Manalapan, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since May of 2021. The generator was another company’s install and the servicing came to us, since when it has been seen every spring – May of 2021, May of 2022, May of 2023, May of 2024, April of 2025 and March of 2026 – each visit working through whichever interval the machine had reached, from the five-year service up to the ten-year, 1,800-hour one. Two repairs were handled outside that schedule as well, the most recent this August. A machine of this age is where a maintenance

16 kW Standby Generator Installation in Scotch Plains, NJ | Whole-House Backup

Gay from Scotch Plains, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since August of 2020. The generator was commissioned in April of 2021: a 16 kW Generac Guardian on natural gas, set at the back corner of the house behind the air conditioning, with a 150-amp service-entrance transfer switch and a smart management module. The load survey is what set the size – 1,200 square feet, but carrying two washers, both an electric and a gas dryer, a refrigerator, a freezer, a dishwasher and a sump pump, which is a heavier draw than the floor area suggests. The

Standby Generator Service in Princeton, NJ | Yearly Generator Service on a Standby Unit

Stephen from Princeton, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since December of 2021. The generator was installed by another company and activated in April of 2020, and the servicing came to us the following year. It has been on a maintenance visit every year since – December of 2021, November of 2022, November of 2023, October of 2024 and October of 2025 – each one working through the service interval the machine had reached, from the first-year check to the five-year, 800-hour visit. In April of 2022 a starter failed; we handled the claim under the manufacturer

26 kW Standby Generator Installation in Lincroft, NJ | Backup for a Home

Anthony from Lincroft, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since September of 2025. The generator was commissioned that December: a Generac Guardian rated 22.5 kW on the natural gas it runs on, tied to a 400-amp smart transfer switch outdoors beside the meter, with three load management modules and surge protection. The load calculation set an 18 kW minimum for a 4,734 square foot house carrying two sump pumps, two refrigerators, a washer, a gas dryer and a dishwasher, so there is headroom rather than rationing when the power drops. Annual maintenance keeps it serviced, and monitoring

14 kW Standby Generator Installation in Marlboro, NJ | Whole-House Backup

Larry from Marlboro, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since February of 2021. The generator went in that November: a 14 kW Generac Guardian on natural gas, with a 200-amp service-entrance transfer switch in the garage and a smart management module. That last piece is what lets 14 kW cover an entire 1,878 square foot house rather than a few chosen circuits – the module eases off the largest load for a moment when demand peaks, instead of the house being split into essential and non-essential from the start. The generator is supported by one of our

Standby Generator Service in Highlands, NJ | Seven-Year Interval Service on a Standby Generator

Joe from Highlands, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since September of 2020. The standby generator at the house was installed by another company and activated in May of 2013, and Joe brought the servicing to us seven years later. We completed the seven-year service in September of 2020 – oil and filter, spark plugs, air filter, battery check and a run test under load – and inspected the fuel plenum, which came back clean with no rust found. That check matters more in Highlands than in most towns: a house this close to the bay takes

Standby Generator Installation in Monmouth Beach, NJ | Clearing the Way for a Generator

Green Sun Energy Services installed a Generac standby generator at a home in Monmouth Beach for a client since August of 2024, commissioned in December of 2025. The long run between the two dates is the interesting part. A standby generator has to sit a set distance from openings in the building and from vent terminations, and those clearances are not something an installer can negotiate around. On this property the only workable position was occupied by an outdoor shower, with two opening windows directly above it and a chimney vent terminating nearby. Making the site suitable meant taking out

Standby Generator Installation in Colts Neck, NJ | Well Water, Sump Pumps and Standby Power

Green Sun Energy Services installed a Generac standby generator at a home in Colts Neck for a client since July of 2024, commissioned in November. On a property like this one the case for standby power is more basic than lighting. The house is on a private well, so when the power stops the pump stops and there is no running water at all — not for washing, not for cooking, not for flushing. Add two sump pumps to that and an outage during a storm becomes a question of whether the basement stays dry. Those three pumps did most

Standby Generator Service in Farmingdale, NJ | A Generator We Did Not Install, Client Since 2023

Green Sun Energy Services has serviced a 16 kW Generac standby generator at a home in Farmingdale, a client since October of 2023. The generator was put in by another company in January of 2019, and the first visit was a startup service on a machine we had not installed — going over an unfamiliar unit from the beginning rather than picking up a maintenance history someone else had written. A year later, in October of 2024, the generator came back for its five-year service. It had 163.5 running hours on the clock by then, which is a modest figure

Standby Generator Service and Soft Washing in Spray Beach, NJ | We Did Not Install, on Long Beach Island

The Pizzo household in Spray Beach has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since July of 2024. The generator on this property was put in by another company in January 2021. We look after it now, and in the summer of 2025 we washed the house as well. Taking on a generator installed by others: Not every generator we maintain is one we installed, and a machine that was fitted by somebody else is not a lesser job to take on — it is a more careful one. There is no survey of ours to read, no record of
