EV Charger Installation

Brian from Manahawkin, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since August of 2023. The charger went in on 29 September: a ChargePoint Home Flex rated 11.5 kW on a dedicated 50-amp circuit. The load calculation put the minimum service at 129 amps against the 150-amp supply the house already had, so the circuit went in without the panel being touched. The Home Flex is the adjustable unit in the ChargePoint range – the installer sets it to the circuit it is fitted to rather than the circuit being sized to the charger, which is what allows a

Marybeth from Freehold, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since September of 2024. The charger went in on 26 November: a hardwired ChargePoint Level 2 unit rated 11.5 kW on a dedicated 60-amp circuit, with the load calculation putting the minimum service at 133 amps. A service upgrade followed in February – the supply taken underground and up to 200 amps with a new forty-space panel. That is the other answer when a load calculation comes back above what a panel can carry: load management holds a charger inside an existing service, and upgrading the service removes

Mark from Hazlet, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since September of 2024. The charger went in on 15 November: a hardwired ChargePoint Level 2 unit rated 11.5 kW on a dedicated 60-amp circuit. The load calculation put the minimum service at 108 amps against the 150-amp supply the house already had, so the circuit went in without the panel being touched. The township permit came back at the start of November and the inspection passed in December – roughly seven weeks from contract to a signed-off installation, most of it spent waiting on paperwork rather than

Americo from Keyport, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since April of 2025. The charger went in that June: a hardwired ChargePoint Level 2 unit with a J1772 connector rated 11.5 kW, on a dedicated 60-amp circuit. The unit itself was supplied by the household rather than by us, which is a perfectly sensible way to do it – the equipment is often bought with the car, and what actually needs a contractor is the circuit, the permit and the inspection rather than the box on the wall. The load calculation put the minimum service at 99

Boris from Plainsboro, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since May of 2024. The charger went in that September: a hardwired ChargePoint Level 2 unit with a J1772 connector rated 11.5 kW, on a dedicated 60-amp circuit. The load calculation put the minimum service at 121 amps against the 200-amp supply the house already had, so the circuit went in without the panel being touched. A workmanship warranty visit followed a fortnight after installation and was completed the same week it was raised – the part of a warranty that matters is not the wording but whether

Jane from Princeton, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since March of 2025. The charger went in that May: a hardwired ChargePoint Level 2 unit rated 11.5 kW, mounted outdoors next to the meter on a dedicated 60-amp circuit. The load calculation put the minimum service at 107 amps against the 200-amp supply the house already had, so the circuit went in without the panel being touched. Mounting beside the meter keeps the run short, and a short run is the cheapest part of any electrical job – the cost of an EV charger is mostly in

Kyle from Jackson, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since September of 2025. The charger went in that November: a hardwired ChargePoint Level 2 unit rated 11.5 kW, mounted outdoors on a dedicated 60-amp circuit with surge protection and a service-disconnect switch. The load calculation put the minimum service at 47 amps against the 100-amp supply the house already had, so the circuit went in without the panel being touched. That calculation is the step worth insisting on: it is what separates a charger that can simply be added from one that needs the service upgraded first,

Jennifer from Keansburg, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since January of 2024. The charger went in that May: a hardwired ChargePoint Level 2 unit rated 11.5 kW, mounted outdoors on a dedicated 60-amp circuit, with 121 amps of spare capacity measured on the service beforehand. Keansburg sits on Raritan Bay, and an outdoor charger there has to stand up to salt air as well as weather – the unit is rated for it, and the mounting and the conduit have to be chosen with the same thing in mind. Four months separated the contract from the

Gordon from Perth Amboy, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since December of 2024. The charger went into the garage in February: a hardwired ChargePoint Level 2 unit rated 11.5 kW on a dedicated 60-amp circuit, within ten feet of the breaker box. The load calculation put the minimum service at 106 amps, comfortably inside the supply the house already had. Running that calculation before anything is ordered is what separates a charger that can simply be added from one that needs a service upgrade first – and where the figure comes out above what a panel

John from Hazlet, NJ has been a Green Sun Energy Services client since September of 2023. The charger went into the garage two weeks later: a hardwired ChargePoint Level 2 unit rated 11.5 kW on a dedicated 60-amp circuit, within ten feet of the breaker box. The load calculation put the minimum service at 165 amps against the 200-amp supply the house already had, so the circuit went in without the panel being touched. Two weeks from contract to installation is quick for work that needs a township permit, and it is the sort of timeline a straightforward load calculation
