Allentown Homeowners Are Slashing Their Energy Costs with Clean, Affordable Solar Power
Energy costs in Allentown continue to rise, and many homeowners are looking for long-term ways to control their monthly electric bills. Because Allentown features a mix of historic homes, newer developments, and tree-lined streets, solar has become an increasingly attractive option when systems are designed correctly.
Based in Middletown, NJ, Green Sun Energy Services, LLC is a NABCEP-certified solar installer with deep experience designing systems for coastal and near-coastal homes. Since 2010, we’ve helped New Jersey homeowners lower electric bills with solar systems built for local utilities, incentives, and real-world conditions.

…a long-term customer. I highly recommend Green Sun if you are going to go solar. However, it was only recently that I realized they also offer the soft/pressure wash services. We scheduled Green Sun to wash our roof, panels, siding, deck/patio/pavers and fence. It all went very well and the results are a vastly improved look for our property. I'll give them a 5 star rating for their work on this, as well as their solar panels business. Whether you have solar panels or not, consider giving Green Sun a chance to do your next soft wash project on your property. It worked out great for me and I highly recommend Green Sun. They are efficient, courteous, and professional and I recommend that you give them a chance for your next project for your home and property.

…the roof deck; every screw was sunk into the rafters. As promised, no part of the array is visible from the front or sides of the house... If you are thinking about “going solar,” or even just getting a standby generator, you really ought to give Glen at Green Sun a call. "- Wayne from Middletown, NJ. Solar Panel InstallationI recently contacted Green Sun ("GS")about power washing my house, deck, walkways, retaining walls, etc. GS obtained a detailed and up-to-date view of my property, and, along with the square footage of my home, developed a cost estimate. I obtained an estimate from another contractor, which was based on the same information as the GS estimate. GS was less expensive by a not-insignificant amount; yet, as best as I could determine, GS offered the same thorough approach using similar products as their competitor. I moved forward with GS. The 2-person team arrived on time on the scheduled day, and worked the full day, power washing all the walkways, deck, patio, retaining walls. I was scheduled for 2 days, and the team returned as scheduled and completed the job, including the roof and the rest of the house. The results were excellent- what a difference! The team quite obviously cared about what they were doing. A concern I had was the impact the power washing might have on the mature landscaping surrounding the treated areas. I was assured that as a matter of course, the team waters down the plants, trees, etc., before and after treatment. I need not have been concerned - no issues there. When it's time (again), I will definitely be using Green Sun for power washing. - Google

Choose the Solar Plan That Fits Your Budget and Goals
No matter your budget, going solar in New Jersey can be structured to fit your goals. Whether you want $0 upfront, low down payments, or maximum lifetime savings, we’ll show you clear options and help you choose the best fit for your home.
Important federal update: Under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, the federal residential solar tax credit for homeowner-owned systems (purchased with cash/loan) ends after December 31, 2025. Third-party owners (lease/PPA providers) may still qualify for a federal credit through 2027, which can make leases more attractive in 2026–2027 depending on eligibility rules. IRS+1
Sample Solar Savings Over Time
Choosing how to pay for solar is just as important as choosing the system. The chart below compares common options—financing, cash purchase, and a solar lease—against continuing to pay a traditional electric bill, showing estimated cumulative savings over time. Use it to see which approach delivers the best results for your goals in the short term and long run.

Why Go Solar in New Jersey Now That the 30% Tax Credit Is Gone
Solar is still one of the smartest investments for New Jersey homeowners. Even without the federal tax credit, solar can lower your monthly electric bill, protect you from rising rates, and give you long-term control over your energy costs. With strong state incentives and flexible payment options, going solar in New Jersey continues to deliver immediate and long-term value.
Solar Panel Installation in Allentown, NJ
Allentown homeowners face a different set of solar considerations than coastal or suburban developments. Older rooflines, mature tree coverage, and zoning requirements all play a role in how solar panel installation in Allentown must be approached to deliver meaningful savings.
Rather than relying on standard layouts, Green Sun Energy Services designs custom solar systems that respect roof structure, shading, and local permitting requirements. This approach allows Allentown homeowners to reduce electric bills while preserving the character and value of their homes.
Why Allentown Homeowners Are Turning to Solar
Electric rates in Allentown are higher than the national average, particularly for homeowners served by JCP&L. Because utility costs continue to increase, many residents are choosing solar to create more predictable, long-term energy expenses.
Allentown homeowners choose solar to:
-
-
Lower monthly electric bills
-
Reduce exposure to future utility rate increases
-
Offset higher-than-expected household energy usage
-
Increase home value without raising property taxes
-
Gain long-term control over energy costs
-
With the right payment options and system design, many Allentown homeowners see solar payments that are substantially lower than their current electric bill.
Custom Solar System Design for Allentown Homes
Solar performance in Allentown depends heavily on thoughtful system design. Historic homes, varied roof pitches, and shading from mature trees all influence production. Because of this, proper planning is essential.
Every solar installation we design is based on:
-
-
Roof orientation, pitch, and shading
-
Historical electric usage patterns
-
JCP&L rate structures
-
Allentown zoning and permitting requirements
-
Future needs like EV chargers or battery storage
-
We avoid overselling and never use cookie-cutter designs. Instead, each system is engineered to deliver realistic, measurable savings for your specific home.
Solar Installation Process in Allentown, NJ
Going solar should feel clear and manageable, especially in a town with unique housing considerations. That’s why we follow a proven, local process from start to finish.
Our process includes:
-
-
First, a free solar consultation and energy review
-
Next, a custom system design tailored to your home
-
Then, permitting and utility coordination
-
After that, professional installation by experienced crews
-
Finally, inspections, activation, and ongoing support
-
In most cases, Allentown solar installations are completed in one to two days once permits are approved.
Solar FAQ
How much can solar lower my electric bill in Allentown?
Savings depend on your roof layout, shading, energy usage, and utility rates. Because every home is different, we build estimates using your actual electric bill.
Is $0-down solar an option in Allentown?
In many cases, yes. However, lease programs vary, so we review all payment terms clearly before you move forward.
Is leasing affected by federal solar changes?
For 2026–2027, leasing may remain attractive because some providers can still monetize federal tax credits through 2027, potentially improving lease pricing. (Solar Power World)
What if my home has an older roof?
If your roof is nearing the end of its lifespan, we’ll discuss timing and options early so you don’t pay twice.
